Fellowship

A variety of opportunities at First United assure that young, old, single, married, member, non-member, you’ll connect with people here and become a part of a larger faith community.

Adults

Breakfast Bunch Monthly meeting at local restaurants for fellowship, conversation, and breakfast. Directions is a women’s group that meets monthly for unstructured fellowship, book discussions and sharing of personal events.

Evening Division

A women’s organization dedicated to local and world communities. It explores beyond the walls of the Church, as well as the love and care for each other. Monthly meetings which consist of a dinner, devotions, and an inspirational program. Voluntary pledges and an Annual White Elephant Sale fund benevolent projects throughout the year.

Women’s Retreat

Co-sponsored by First United Church of Oak Park and Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church. This is a weekend retreat in March at a retreat center in Wisconsin. It provides a time away from the business of our daily lives. Women gather in kinship, for spiritual exploration, reflection, relaxation, and renewal. The program is lead by a nationally known woman facilitator.

Youth – Junior High

FUJI Sunday Evening FUJI is First United Junior High youth fellowship, a weekly gathering of seventh and eighth graders for dinner, play, discussion, group activities, mission projects, and prayer. From lock-ins to scavenger hunts and quiet discussions to weekend retreats, FUJI extends beyond the Church School experience and engages junior high youth on the faithful journey of building Christian community.

 

Youth – High School

FUSH Sunday Evening FUSH is First United Senior High youth fellowship, a weekly gathering of high school students who talk, wonder, and learn about each other and how to live together as a community. They work together towards their annual work camp mission trip, a week that starts their summer vacation. They travel to places like, Kentucky, Tennessee, and New Mexico, and diligently work to build houses, repair churches, and learn about other communities and cultures.

 

Older Adults

Sewing Group Tuesdays, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm A senior women’s group meeting once a week. Members knit, crochet, or sew items that are distributed to nursing homes, orphanages, hospitals and groups that handle foster children.
