First United’s Newcomers class is held three times a year, usually in October, February, and June, for three to four consecutive weeks. The class is open to all comers, whether you are currently considering membership or you are just exploring the possibility of becoming a member. Those interested in further exploration are invited to contact Lydia Mulkey (firstname.lastname@example.org), Associate Pastor for Education, 708-386-5215 (ext. 103), for more information. Join us for conversations about our faith and ministries.
Our next Newcomers class will be Feb. 9, 12, and 23.
Sunday, Feb. 9, 9:30 a.m. in Room 13: Light breakfast and church tour with information about mission partners, programs, and the many ways to be involved at First Untied.
Wednesday, Feb. 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Chapel: Dinner provided. Topics include the story of our two denominations (UCC and PC USA) and the “story of you,” learning about each other and our faith journeys.
Sunday, Feb. 23, 9:30 a.m. in Centennial Hall: Joining Sunday! Hearty breakfast provided.
As a part of this discernment, one of our ministers would like to sit and talk with you before you begin the Newcomers class to learn more about you and how we can walk together in the journey of faith. What does the church have to offer, and how does it relate to you? Maybe you’re new in town, or perhaps you haven’t been to church in a while. Maybe you’re planning a wedding, or a child — or an adult — needs to be baptized. We’re here to help you in the whole process. Contact any of the pastors or church staff for more information, 708-386-5215.
