All are welcome to worship with us at First United. We’d like to make it as easy as possible for you to join us. We are conveniently located in the heart of Oak Park at 848 Lake St.
NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, worship at First United is being streamed at 11 a.m. on Sundays. You can view the service by visiting the First United YouTube channel. Or, just go to youtube.com and search for the First United Church of Oak Park channel. In-person outdoor worship will be at 9 a.m., weather permitting. We hope to be back to indoor worship before too long, when a livestream option also will be available on YouTube.
Come as you are
Our worship each week includes song, prayer, learning, silence, and giving. Coffee and free Wi-Fi are available throughout the building before and after worship. There’s no dress code — we welcome those in blue jeans to sport jackets and everything in between. All are welcome to partake in the sacrament of Communion, regardless of faith background. Enter through the main Lake Street doors, the rear parking lot doors, or the wheelchair-accessible ramp from Kenilworth Avenue. If you have any questions, please ask a minister, greeter, or member. We’re glad you’re here. Learn more about First United’s worship here.
We welcome all children and include a “Time for Sharing” as part of each service especially for young ones. Age-appropriate worship activities and books are available near the entrance doors at the front and the back of the Sanctuary. We also offer safe, quality childcare and quiet play for children 5 and under in our nursery, which includes a cheerful play area stocked with age-appropriate toys and activities and a quiet area for sleeping, changing, and feeding. Read more here or find out more about our Children’s Ministry page.
Music and more
Each week, we offer harmonies by our choir, music from our Casavant pipe organ, and congregational singing of hymns. Vocal and instrumental musicians are encouraged to share their gifts in the choir or through any of the other musical opportunities. There also are concerts during the year through our Music at First group. Visit our Music Ministries page for more information.
