Adults

Christian faith if a lifelong journey.  God's not done with you yet.  With opportunities for education, service, and fellowship, First United strives to support adults no matter where they are on their faith journeys.

Adult Education

Adult education at First United offers insight, growth, and fellowship.  Adult ed is a ministry that drives learning, deepens faith, and wrestles with the relationship between God's world and the human world.

Meeting at 9:45 a.m. on most Sundays, September through late May, Speaker Series topics range from church history to current events to race relations to international issues, always with a biblical perspective.

Join the Bible Group on Sunday mornings at 9:45 in the Conference Room for lay-led discussions of the weekly lectionary texts or other Scripture. Drop-ins whenever you would like - there's not advance "homework" for this group!

Wednesday's small group Bible Study meets in the conference from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Led by Associate Pastor Lydia Mulkey, this group follows a regular curriculum.  Reach out to Pastor Lydia for more information.

Adult Fellowship Groups

Prime Time

Prime Time includes First United members and friends, age 60+ (plus significant others).  Prime Time plans 4-6 events for the calendar year including dinners, parties, theater outings, and summer picnics.

Seasonal Small Groups

Organized by the Deacons, seasonal small groups meet in the fall and/or winter to provide extra connection during the seasons that can feel most isolating.

MIDPOINT

Not quite ready for Prime Time!  This group meets periodically in members' homes and local sites throughout the area. The year ends with a Christmas party and (in)famous White Elephant gift exchange.

Family Camp

Each August, we travel to Tower Hill camp ground in Sawyer, Michigan for a group camp-out with cookouts, hiking, swimming, games, relaxation, and just plain fun

Dinner & a Movie

Members and friends meet on the second Friday of each month to share a casual meal and watch a movie in the church lounge. The file choices are always eclectic with a brief review published in church communications the month before.

PFLAG

PFLAG offers support for parents and friends of people coming out as LGBTQ+ as well as advocacy for the wider community. PFLAG marches in the Pride Parade in June.
